Note the word “women”. Please also note if you read the whole article that that’s really the one place Mr. Angel really focuses on trans women in the whole thing: victim-blaming us when violence is committed against us.

That having been said, I think the message needs to be stated to him in the simplest, most straightforward manner possible. The point is that the “trans women must disclose their status” concept is used to justify violence against trans women. It’s a completely illegitimate concept, and instead of propping up the idea that the onus is on trans women to disclose in order to pre-empt violence (which may happen anyways), we should instead be focused on compelling society to de-pathologize trans women’s bodies.

Instead of admitting he misspoke and taking ownership of what he said, he’s dodging responsibility by calling it a “misinterpretation”. He hasn’t yet responded to any of my tweets, but has responded to a few other people. If he doesn’t respond to me I’m going to summarize what I said to him on Twitter (I’ve sent a few more tweets than the three quoted above) in a more formal response to his non-apology.

He apparently thinks HE is the arbiter of whether he has said or done anything trans/misogynist, which is not how this works. Between the mansplaining and other issues arising in this dialogue, I think it’s fair to say what’s going on isn’t specifically transmisogyny but more the good ol’ fashioned variety.
